I have it from one of the admi n staff that they are still accepting submissions

I totally agree with the suggestion that Daniel made about sending to the JSC. It can certainly do no harm.

I made, and sent, a written submission to the Justice Select Committee two weeks ago which has still not been published on their website. I know of others who have made submissions that have either not been published or not accepted. The Select Committee, indeed the Justice Committee itself know of the "problems" with Jersey's "Justice" and Administration but turn a blind eye to it. I have tweeted this blog posting to them and others are encouraged to do the same. tweet the link to @MoJGovUK

  6. A fabulous and devastating compilation.

It should be made clear to newcomers to these sagas that these are not nutters living in sheds.
If you (VFC) ever re-work it you could subtitle each video with relevant details:

    Ex Health Minister
    Current Jersey MP
    Small Businessman
    EX Deputy Chief of Police
    Canadian Investor
    etc.

Or for the moment you could just add a list by editing the text of the posting or add a comment with a more complete and ordered writeup than I have provided.

  7. TPTB on this little rock try to destroy anyone who does the right thing, against their wishes or interests.

Anyone who complains about their treatment or the abuse of the vulnerable is slated by the bully boys and their media and are branded "Traitors" or "Wreckers".

It does not matter who or how many you are, TPTB are the-law-in-this-town and thy have the posse to hit you from all sides, data protection (which is meant to protect the public), blackshirt raids without a warrant, super-injunctions. Law Offices with immunity from prosecution, oversight of themselves ....... The cards are marked and they deal themselves all the aces.

but the game has changed - Just how many in London wish to remain tainted forever by these cowboys.

  10. With such a diverse bunch of contributors in the video compilation it would be impossible for the powers that be to call them all troublemakers and should also make it impossible for the UK to ignore. Why is the UK so willing to allow this to continue?

  11. Good work VFC,

Maybe it is time to use modern communication technology to its full potential.

Just group together in a folder all UK MP's emails, as a start.

Then fire off in the push of a button this type of devastating injustice story.

Then a folder of all known political blogs then fire.

Then all union and civil rights blogs ……..

    Then all UK newspapers….…

It is wrong to expect much from a small Justice Select Committee, when they are establishment orientated, much better for wider interests to become involved.
    and how

  13. Today in the Appeal Court hearing re Curtis Warren (held in a heavily armed Magistrates Court) Advocate Baker vented some more amazing criticisms of his fellow Jersey lawyers and the whole rotten Police, Prosecution and Judicial system.
Jersey lawyers he particularly slagged for the "indolence and lack of vigour of the Jersey Bar in taking on the authorities." Conflicts he said were inevitable in such a small jurisdiction and there had been so much presecutorial misconduct in this case over the years that it was not possible to rely on what the Crownn or the Police put before the Court.
Personally he claimed too that "my word is not accepted and they want proof" and it was the response of the Crown to bring allegations against those who make complaints...
Part of today's application was an attempt to recuse Beloff QC the principal judge hearing this appeal. This concerns a world-wide all embracing injunction brought against Warren and his lawyer arising from an alleged attmpt at interfering with "Juror 125" towards the end of the initial conspiracy trial.
But Beloff and the two other Appeal judges were not very impressed. Beloff was not recused and an attempt to join fellow convicted conspirator James O'Brien (held at La Moye)in the appeal, was also thrown out.
The full decision will be handed down on Friday but Beloff had stated that although he would make no comment on the criticisms made against the Jersey Bar he emphasized that these three Appeal Judges were from outside the Island and "this is an independent court."
The main appeal from Curtis Warren against sequestration of his assets will be heard in the Autumn but, as was raised today, what will happen to the others in the "gang" - have they been adequately represented...?

  15. Esther Rantzen is over here today. After her appearance on Newsnight where Stuart showed up Frank, it would be great if you could track her down and tell her that nothing has really changed over here, the Jersey Cover-Up Way is still as vile as it ever was.

    2. "Question

Can the Minister inform members whether, in the early stages of the historic child abuse investigation, both a current States Member and an individual still employed by the States and himself facing a number of allegation relating to abuse, went to Haut de la Garenne and attempted to gain access past the Police cordon stating that they needed to collect/remove personal material?

      Answer

The States of Jersey Police have no formal record of any such visit by either party and with the passage of time, there is no-one still serving within the States of Jersey Police who is able to confirm that any such visit took place. "

I really am interested to know what former Senior Investigating Officer Lenny Harper has to say about this, particularly the "current States Member...stating that they needed to collect/remove personal material".

I am not interested in Kevin Lewis. It is well known that he assisted the investigation, given his experience as location manager of the site during filming of the Bergerac TV series. That is a total red herring, introduced into the answer as a typical piece of Jersey-way obfuscation.

We know from experience that ILM is adept at using words and phrases that give a very narrow legal meaning. The question was not about whether there is anyone still serving within the police who can confirm that any such visit took place. The written question was about whether the visit took place or not, and what evidence ILM has about this from ANY source.

May I suggest a way forwards, to clear this up once and for all? If Mr Harper is aware of information that could help the Minister answer this question in more detail, then I suggest that Mr Harper writes to the Minister and Deputy Trevor Pitman, providing whatever information he has. Then perhaps the question will be asked again. The public of Jersey have a right to know what really happened, or didn't happen as the case may be. It's called the truth, and we want to know what it is.

Or is Mr Harper prevented from directly commenting, as to do so would cause him to breach rules by which he is still bound?

      Delete
    3. If Mr. Harper is able to comment I'm sure he will.

As for "I am not interested in Kevin Lewis. It is well known that he assisted the investigation."

Deputy Kevin Lewis was not as helpful as you might THINK

    4. The comment below is from Lenny Harper, former Senior Investigating Officer of the Jersey child abuse investigation (Operation Rectangle). Hope it answers the question(s) above........Told you Ann Pryke could have been a little more helpful. Still, she's got the support of Esther Rantzen!

"On 19th February at 3pm Ann Pryke attended HDLG. I was asked to go to the entrance by officers on security duty there. Pryke was demanding entry and a full update on our activities. She was complaining loudly that we had not pre-informed her of our entry to HDLG. I told her it was police business and she should leave. The following day the Chief Minister Frank Walker e mailed Graham Power who passed the e mail to myself. Walker stated that he wanted Pryke fully updated and told of any discoveries. He was told "no" in firm terms and given a number of reasons why it would not be happening. He was also warned that all approaches such as his would be recorded and would be disclosable.
At 5.30pm that day (20th Feb) Danny Wherry turned up at HDLG and demanded entry to recover some items he had left there previously. He was refused and told to leave as it was a potential crime scene.
I am somewhat surprised at Mr Le Marquand's reply for two reasons. Firstly, both visits are recorded on the official security log for the scene, and the e mail from Frank Walker will also be logged. Secondly, there are a number of officers still serving with the force who could confirm the visits. The Home Affairs Minister needs to do his homework! Lenny"

    5. So it would appear that the Home Affairs Minister, has once more, misled parliament. Not only by what we have just learnt from Mr. Harper concerning Deputy Pryke and Danny Wherry but if one looks at the so-called "answer" from the Home Affairs Minister to Deputy Pitman's QUESTION you will not3 that Senator Le Marquand also states;

"The premises were used for the Bergerac series for about 7 years after they had ceased to be used as a Children’s Home."

      That isn't true either ("after they had ceased to be used as a Children’s Home") as this will help demonstrate;

"The Haut de la Garenne complex, the scene of horrific physical and sexual abuse, was used by the BBC in the popular television drama to depict the Bureau des Etrangers, a fictional department of the Jersey police.

It had previously been thought the BBC filmed there only after the home closed in 1986, but victims and production figures have told the Sunday Express that crew and cast, including star John Nettles who played Detective Sergeant Jim Bergerac, were there at least a year earlier.

      As published HERE

    6. Dear VFC and Lenny,

Thanks for the clarification. It is very much appreciated.

Can you tell me, the above quote at 11:56am beginning "On 19th February at 3pm..." - is that a new quote today, or a copy/paste from a previous blog? I am aware of similar information being published on past blogs but can't remember reading such detail. Is my memory going, or is this new, more detailed, information, being provided for the first time today?

What was Anne Pryke's political role in February 2008? I know she was (and still is) Deputy of Trinity. HDLG is in St Martin. She was not Health Minister back then; it was Shenton and Perchard back then. Did she have a political role in Education, Sport and Leisure, perhaps as Assistant Minister? Or was it Planning, or Property Holdings? What was the political context?

      Delete
    7. The quote is from today. Mr. Harper is having trouble leaving comments and, after a request, emailed it to me. I believe the information might have been posted previously and, like yourself, not sure it was in as much detail, so would say that there is a good chance today's comment is the most detailed to date.

I can't recall what position (if any) Deputy Pryke held in 2008 that would give her any legitimate reason to be demanding access to HDLG. Perhaps Mr. Harper, or any reader, could help with this?

    8. Thank you. The incisive words of Lenny Harper are always a pleasure to read.

    9. I think Anne Pryke did have a relevant role at the time. I believe that she was on a committee to see what to do with HDLG, which had lain empty and unused for so long. She was on that committee because she was a deputy and because she was chair iirc of the Trinity Youth Club at the time.

Maybe someone else could do some investigative work and confirm this. Surely this ad hoc States committee should leave some trace on the States website?

Sorry I have had a look at the States site myself, the Jersey Youth Hostel was running from 2004. So the above information, although it reveals a connection which she had, can hardly be relevant to gaining access in 2008

As recent events show us, States members sometimes wear different hats and imperceptibly slip in and out of each role, without wearing a badge to tell you what role they are currently fulfilling. Trustee, states member, passer by, take your pick!
